Iowa travels to Evanston, IL this weekend for a showdown with the Northwestern Wildcats. Long gone are the days when Northwestern was an automatic "W" on the schedule.
Iowa is coming off a bye week, previously losing to Michigan at home and eliminating their chances to play on January 1 in Florida. Iowa is now just fighting to break even in the Big Ten. If you read my previous posts, you know that I think Iowa is fighting just to finish with a winning record.
The cause will not be helped this week. This is a battle of offenses, because I don't think either team's defense is much good when put to the test. N'Western is going to move the ball up and down the field. While Iowa should, they won't as much. Iowa goes to 3-3 Big Ten, 5-4 on the year.
Wildcats: 34
Hawks: 24

Kansas farmer Brandon got the boot last night on Survivor, as the recently combined tribes voted along former alliance lines and used their numbers advantage. I had predicted a final four for Brandon, but you can not beat the numbers game in Survivor after a tribe merge, if the larger merging tribe is up on you and wants to exercise its power. That was the case last night.
Too bad, because Jamie's teammates are sick of him and obviously don't think he should stay. But Rafe couldn't muster the courage to vote his conscience, and that sent Brandon home. There's no reason to believe that Bobby Jon, Danni, and Gary won't go next. If that happens, it will make for a boring show.

Brian,
I got to your blog off of Matt Payne's. It would appear that I share your frustration and pessimism for the Hawkeyes this year.
You'll have to let me know if it's okay to post my email address on here.
