Those are the only four words of the University of Northern Iowa fight song that I know, despite having been to nearly every home football game for four years during college and playing in the marching band for two of those years.
This weekend is our traditional homecoming gathering in Cedar Falls with three guys that were my college roomates and two others that were friends of friends. Some portion of this group has been meeting just about every year for the past 13 years (has it been that long???). All the old inside jokes and memories get dusted off, told so often that all of our wives now know them. With the addition of Gus Uhlenhopp, we all now are married with kids. Our group of 6 guys now numbers over 20. "Boggs" has to keep remodeling his house just to accomodate us all.
What I appreciate most is that these bozos all turned out to be good, faithful guys, with good families. It's not only fun to get together, but encouraging too. In between the razzing, and touch football games that lead to more and more injuries, and the playing card marathons, we find a few minutes to talk about serious things.
So, I tip my marching band cap to the residents of R House (and those who are honorary residents) and look forward to seeing you Friday night. Go Panthers!
