It's a Monday

For me, that means getting back into the swing of my work week.

My position with New York Life is very "on" during the week and "off" when the weekend hits. During the week, my schedule reflects that of a typical young, small business -- hours that don't always start at 8 and end at 5; concerns about balancing expenses with income; investing intellectually in your profession, etc. Between the lines of Monday through Friday, work can be pretty consuming.

But once Friday afternoon hits, I want to shut down until Monday morning. Sometimes it's easy to turn off, while other times it is hard (cause the worry stuff carries over into the weekend).

So come Monday, the generator whirs to life and I assume this uniform as "Superagent" --protector against death and purveyor of financial security.

I was glad to be wrong in my prediction of last week's Iowa, Purdue football game. I predicted a loss for the Hawks. Instead, they managed to pin 34 points on the Biolermakers while only allowing 17. Purdue threw all over the field (their QB set a career high for yardage), but so did Iowa. And Iowa ran the ball well. If you thought Iowa's defense porous, you haven't seen nuthin till you've seen Purdue. I'll give me Indiana prediction right now: Iowa wins. Not sure if it will be a big blowout win, or a more modest ballgame. I'll split the difference and say ...

Iowa 31
Indiana 14

House update
Some of you have been asking. Not much new. We will conduct a termite inspection in the next week or so. We are collecting moving boxes but have not yet started to fill them. Yesterday afternoon we divided a few of our plants and took them out to the Graf's house for the winter. If they make it through the snow and wind, we'll replant them at our new locale in the spring. We're hoping to continue our tradition of raspberries and strawberries in Marion, without having to start over with new plants.

We are goingto take possession on Nov. 30 and move a few boxes during that week. We'll rent the truck for a Saturday, Dec 3 move. Since we're not taking most of our appliances, the move should be an easy one (except the piano, of course).
