Hawkeye Hazard

OK, so my pick for the CyHawk trophy was a disaster. Iowa looked so inept that they could end up going 6-5 ... maybe worse. Same thing happened last year at Arizona State. It woek that squad up; perhaps it will wake this one up.

The church conference in St. Louis was a 5 on a 1-10 scale. Nothing real special, but not a bust either. The best part about getting away like that with your church leadership team is always the van ride discussion, and ours was good. If it takes a conference to facilitate thing, I guess it's not too bad.

One the homefront ... the buying side is all wrapped up now, the selling side status is "unchanged." We had a slow open house Sunday with only three guests. Our two couples from Thursday night did not come back, and have not been in touch. I'm telling myself that it just takes one. Yes, that means I AM talking to myself.

I must not understand football.

Travel back with me. It's early in the game. The Hawkeyes have received the kickoff and have run a few plays. They're going into a stiff wind, making passing more difficult and unpredictable. (Remember: "Only three things can happen when you pass the ball, and two of them are bad." The wind only makes it worse.) And, in the first few plays, the Hawkeyes have run off two successful running plays for over 10-yards each.

Given these two facts and my meager football knowledge, the play calling is clear. Run. Run some more. Run until you score or punt. Make the Cyclones show that they can stop your horses.

What do the Hawkeyes do? Throw. And not just throw, but throw an interception. It's all downhill from there.

Yep, I must not understand football...
