All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of
his posessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great
power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus,
and much grace was upon them all.
This excerpt from the fourth chapter of Acts will be the foundation of a teaching I will give this coming Sunday at New Life. My hope is to share a few ideas about what it means that "much grace was upon them all."
That statement appears only once in all the Bible. We often think of grace as being individualized -- that the gift of God's grace is personal to the believer. And, that grace is the "magic potion" that takes the life of a sinner and turns him into a saint. Is grace merely about salvation, or are there other applications of grace?
In Jerusalem about 2,006 years ago, a group of Jews gathered in Jerusalem and responded to God. As they did so, it's pretty clear that God responded to them. How did this happen, and why? What did God's grace allow these people to do that was unique? And can the same thing happen today.
Stay tuned, and we'll ask these questions together.
