Remember the "diet" that I started back in December. The one where I was shooting for a 15 pound weight loss (I really wanted 20 pounds but didn't want to admit it publicly)? Well, as of this morning, it looks like I've gained two pounds, and that was after a haircut that must of trimmed at least a pound of hair off! Time to get serious ... no more double servings of dessert!!!

Someone asked me about the song from last week. Yeah, I wrote that. I have written about a dozen or so songs, but I don't have the talent to write the tune, so the songs just sit on my hard drive. I just write something when the mood strikes or I have something to unload from my chest.

I have something I want to write about but I'm not sure how to do it in a way that reflects truth, but also prudence. I have recently been challenged to consider what the next step is for me in church ministry. Churches are in dire need of good leadership. I know not if what I can contribute would be "good" or in the vain of "leadership." But I have a personal desire to play an active role in a church that is God-honoring and life changing. The church should be a solution to spiritual struggles, not the cause of it. But for so many people I know, that hasn't been the case. I could write and write about this ... probably wouldn't result in much of value.

Well shock of shocks! Oscar did not go home in the pocket of a gay cowboy last night. Not only did I not see any of the movies nominated for best film, but I didn't see any of the movies nominated for best actors or actresses either. In fact, the only two films that I saw last year that were even nominated for awards were "March of the Penguins" (won for best documentary) and "The Chronicles of Narnia" (won for best lighting or make-up or some such thing). Oh, and Star Wars, which must have been nominated for something related to graphics. I'm so far removed from the spirit of the Oscars it was hard to even watch the 60 minutes I did. Next year, maybe I'll keep the popcorn but skip the show.
