Ah yes, the art of guessing accurately. Meteorologists are professional prognosticators, are they not? So are poker players and other gamblers.
Me? I'm not much good at prognosticating. You can tell from my pick of Iowa Hawkeye football games and Survivor finalists that for me, a guess is a guess, and not a very good one.
On October 20 I made my Survivor picks. With the Final Four on the line tonight and the season finale on Sunday, let's go back and see how I did with my prognosticating.
Amy: I said the tough New York cop was final four. She was voted out long ago, the casualty of being on the wrong side of the Survivor numbers game. Tribe politics and alliances are the reason most people get voted out. She got the axe for being on the wrong side of the the crocodile.
Bobby Jon: Got him right, dead on. Said he would make it to the merge, and get voted out immediately. That's exactly what happened.
Brandon: I said Final Four, the tribe spoke otherwise. Another case of being in the wrong alliance. Most everyone has said that they like Brandon and that he deserved to go farther than he did.
Cindy: I said she would be voted out just prior to the final four, before which she would fly under the radar. That has proven to be true, but now I think it's clear she will make final four.
Danni: I said she was one of my favorite players and final four. She still is, and she's still in.
Gary: Gary was my favorite player of the season, and one of the best ever. I said he would get to #6. He did, being voted out at #6.
Jamie: I said his alliance with Judd would hurt him, and that he would be gone. He is gone, but being aligned with Judd was not his problem -- his mouth was his problem.
Judd: He's gone, making his exit last week, yelling over his shoulder that those remaining "are all scumbags." One of the most hot-tempered Survivors in any season.
Lydia: She has hung around longer than I expected. Somehow, she keeps going. I think it's because she poses no threat to anyone. She is disposable, and she will be disposed of soon.
Rafe: I said he could be final four if he got himself aligned with strong players. He got himself aligned with the strongest player (Steph), and will be final four.
SO .... I'll take credit for being right on 6/10, with a couple picks dead-on accurate. I think Danni gets voted out tonight, which leaves Rafe, Steph, Lydia and Cindy in the final four. What happens next is anyone's guess. MY guess is that Lydia and Cindy go next. Rafe and Steph go final two, and Rafe wins because the jury doesn't Steph to take home the bucks. Rafe, who is a self-described gay Morman, becomes the media poster child of "the new American diversity" scene.
What do you think will happen???
