Danni and Edmund

The two entertainment events of my weekend were the premiere of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," and the Survivor season finale. Both fulfilled my every expectation.

My desire for the movie was three-fold. One, that adults could find it both meaningful and entertaining. Two, that my kids would enjoy it. Three, that when my kids are older, they will discover the more meaningful truth of the story.

All three desires were fulfilled. The production quality is outstanding, the story very true to the C.S. Lewis original story, and the theme very moving. For me, it was like watching a children's version of "The Passion of the Christ."

This might actually be a moview I will buy when it hits DVD.

Survivor was a pleasant surpise, as my favorite remaining player Danni accomplished the unexpected, taking home the check for $1 million. Somehow she was able to get Lydia voted out, leaving her in the final three. Then, she took matters into her own hands, won immunity, and placed herself into the final two. Deciding between taking Rafe to the finals or Steph was easy ... Steph had to run roughshod over everyone to get as far as she did, so her enemies outnumbered her admirers. The complete final vote was not revealed, but I would guess that Danni got 5 of 7 votes for an easy victory.

So kudos to Danni, who played the game with as little lyin, cheatin and stealin as any Sole Survivor, and beat the odds of playing the final two weeks with no alliance in place. Her success was remarkable and laudable.
