Sunday was a great day at our house. When we left for church in the morning we had home showings scheduled for 10, 12:30 and 2. We knew one of them was a second showing (turns out it was a third showing). Our traffic over the last 13 days has been good, just no offers. We returned home Sunday at 5 and had an offer waiting for us ... a low one. We were asking $125 and the offer was for $118. We countered at $123, the buyer at $120. We countered again at $122, our rock bottom price, the buyer at $121. We said "no thanks," and had an offer of $122 within a half hour.
Having only been listed for 13 days, we may have been able to hold and get more. But those of you who have been through this process know that it is so draining, we thought it a blessing to be able to wrap it up. Pending inspections, we should be free and clear real soon. It looks like we'll be able to move the close on our new house up a couple of days, and our buyer wants our house as soon as he can get it, which is likely Dec. 3. Our moving day now appears to be Saturday, Nov. 26 (Saturday after T-Giving). Friends, clear the day on your calendar :-)
God is good.

The Iowa vs. UNI game Saturday was a good one -- better than the 45-21 score indicates. I thought UNI gave a strong account of themselves. If the Panther team that showed up in Iowa City is the same team that shows up for conference games starting next week, UNI should have a great year. Their quarterback looked every bit as good as anyone Iowa will face in the Big Ten. UNI's downfall against a team like Iowa is size. Iowa's O-Line is big enough to push the UNI D-Line all over the field. The Hawks probably had an average weight advantage of 35 pounds per guy. That's hard to overcome. If I had a 6 ft, 200 pound guy pushing me around all day, I'd be in a world of hurt.
I was a little off on the score -- we hit 31-14 shortly after halftime. But I think I accurately estimated the spirit of the game -- a good contest for Iowa, and a good showing for the purple and gold. This weekend, Iowa goes to Ohio State. Nobody better be asking me for any favors at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
