While out of town last week at the Pastor's Conference in Missouri, I received a second anonymous letter -- this one apologetic. I assume it to be from the same person who had written previously, though it was again unsigned.
The letter writer asked for my forgiveness. I want to assure the writer (if you are also a reader here) that it is given. I also want to encourage the writer to "go and sin no more." In other words, don't send any more anonymous letters to anybody. They are damaging, not only in the moment, but for months and years.
I once heard someone say, "Compliment in print, express fault in face-to-face conversation." That's a pretty good mantra if you ask me.
I look forward to posting some thoughts in the next few days from the conference, as well as from my teaching I'll be sharing with the church this coming Sunday.
Peace.
