Early Wednesday this week I'll be flying into Dallas for a half-week New York Life conference. It will be three days of classroom lecture, great food, and lonely evenings. Pray that this would be a good use of my time and that the trip would be safe.

Y'know, sometimes you do things you shouldn't do because you hope the outcome will be different than you think it will be. That was the case with my picking of the Hawks last Saturday against Michigan. I thought the maize and blue would beat the Hawkeyes, but didn't want it to be so, so I picked Iowa out of hope. Should have just went with my first instinct. As it was, both teams played well enough to win, but Iowa fell a pass short.

This coming Sunday a theme of our worship time at church will be appreciation for our church leadership. The month of October has been deemed "Pastor Appreciation Month" by someone, somewhere (where does all this _____ ________ month get started, anyway?). If it's been awhile since you acknowledged the people in your life that have spiritually impacted you, it's ALWAYS the right time to do so.
